RENTON. Fatal Accident at Cordale Works.- James Stevenson, a middle-age d man who resided at 9 Mansion Street, Possilpark, and was employed by Me ssrs John Young and Co., Kelvinhaugh Street, Glasgow, was killed in the C ordale Works, last Friday afternoon. These works belong to the United Tur key Red Company, Limited. Stevenson and some others had been removing a b oiler which was to be transferred to the Dalquhurn Works, further down th e River Leven. When the boiler was being moved forward it accodentally st ruck a cast iron pillar, with the result that the pillar broke and fell o n Stevenson, who was killed outright. Jas Stevenson - witness at the wedd ing of his sister Jane to John Anderson in 1906 15 children - 9 sons,6 da ughters. Mothers brother James was killed in the Onato Pen Factory whe n a boiler blew up of burst or what ever about 1931. Uncle John wrote an d told us. Mother never spoke to him or of him..... I was told that thi s was because he had married a Catholic, but his wedding was within the C hurch of Scotland so this seems unlikely.
