Eli Alexander

(Abt 1717 - Apr 1785)

Eli inherited partial interests in several of his father's plantations. Records indicate that he also purchased additional interests from his brother (David) before selling some of the plantations. The will of Eli Alexander dated 1785 (Cecil Co. book 5:55) names wife Tamyzon, sons Josiah, Harmon, Richard Ford, Lewis, Eli Jr., Jeremiah, daughters Araminta, Susannah, Lydia, and Kephia and mentions Hispanolia, Bullens Range, Alexandra and Alexander' Lott. Appoints Benjamin Brevard and Hezehiah Ford executor. Also names Caleb Alexander. Maryland Families p. 63 "Elias Alexander son of Martin Alexander".

Jeremiah, the son mentioned in his will was thought to be the Jeremiah Alexander (born 4 July 1763) .that served in the Revolutionay War and died in Walker County, Alabama. on 26 Jan 1847. This Jeremiah has been proven by DNA testing to be a son of John Alexander (born 1714), Eli's cousin.
