Individual Details
John Barnes Alexander
(1782 - Aft 1855)
Very little is known about John Barnes, and nothing about his first wife and mother of his children. It is obvious that he did not move to Alabama in 1819 with his father and other family members. He was listed in Jeremiah's pension application, along with his other four siblings. He was again listed in Jeremiah's pension at the time of his death, and again when the balance of his pension was paid on January 26, 1855. He and Elizabeth, his second wife, were married by C.A. Welch. According to Find A Grave, John is buried in the Old Zion Cemetery near Jasper in Walker County, Alabama. This is the cemetery where his father, Jeremiah, is buried. This report cannot be substaniated, but there are many old graves without markers and tombstones that are no longer legible.
