About 18 months after Eli received membership in the Greenwich Monthly Meeting, a widow and her daughter, Rebeckah and Eunice Dollas [Dallas] made a request to be received into membership amongst the Friends at the Greenwhich Monthly Meeting. Rebeckah and her husband, William, who had died in 1788, had joined the Quaker faith at some time prior to William’s death. They had attended the Maurice River Monthly Meeting.[i]
A bit more than a year later, on October 23, 1799, Eli and Eunice Dallas were married according to the minutes of Greenwich Monthly Meeting.[ii]
Tax records for 1802 and 1803 show Eli and Eunice residing in Downe Township in Cumberland County
Eunice was also active in the monthly meetings. She is noted in the minutes of the Walnut Ridge Monthly Meeting as being appointed to the Committee on Education and later as an “overseer”.[i] She was deeply loved and respected by all of her children. Each of her four children named a daughter “Eunice”. Eunice died in 1859, almost 20 years after Eli.
