Cook and Phebe Jackson and for your so doing this shall be your lawful authority and that you make due return thereof according to law In testimony whereof I John D. Jackson Cook, born abt 1838, Indiana
William Cook, born abt 1841, Indiana
Elvira Cook, born abt 1845, Indiana

My reasons for the children assigned to the various mothers:
1. I first found the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 US Census records
2. I knew that Levi and Martha were married in 1849 but according to the 1850 census there were 4 children who had been born prior to that census so I had to assume that there had been a previous wife
3. Since Martha died in 1852 the only child that could have belonged to Martha was Luther born Apr 1850
4. In the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Census a Mary J. appeared as the wife. I found the marriage record for Levi and Mary Jane White
5. The children born after 1852 must belong to Mary Jane.
6. I finally found the marriage record for Levi and Phebe Jackson in 1836
