Obituary for Jennifer Ellen "Jennie" Lucas
Jennifer Ellen Lucas, 54, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 at her home in Bloomington. She was born on her parents fourth wedding anniversary September 11, 1964 in Bloomington, Indiana the daughter of John Michael and Barbara Ellen (Mast) Lucas. Jennie was a 1982 graduate of Bloomington South High School where she sang in the Madrigals, was a drummer in the band, a wrestlerette, active in theater, and a photographer for the yearbook. She attended Indiana University, and also served briefly as a co-instructor of an Ivy Tech computer class. She had been employed at Viscom a photography service in Bloomington that was owned by her mentor Bill Berry, and she also had been a secretary at Indiana University and had worked at several lawyer’s offices in Bloomington, she was a constant student.
Jennie was a member of PETA, and Bloomington Friends Quaker meeting, her passion was photography, and photographing and recording gravestones at local cemeteries in Monroe County. She also enjoyed music and animals, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jennie is survived by her daughter; Elizabeth Rose Ellen Lucas of Bloomington, two grandchildren; Elijah Lucas-Ryan and Sophia Burchfield, her father; John Michael (Bette) Lucas of Bloomington, her mother; Barbara Ellen Lucas of Bloomington, her brother; Thomas M. (Tammy) Lucas of Bloomington, step brother; Terry Arcuri (Karen) of Cady TX, step sister; Toni Arcuri and a niece Josie Arcuri of Bloomington, aunts, uncles and many cousins, a special friend Dan Worth, and her cats Caroline, Finn and Ternan.
She was preceded in death by her infant children Rachel Ellen and Daniel Leon, and her paternal and material grandparents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Relief Fund.
