Col. R. E. Ross and family, living west of Cicero, passed through the city Tuesday on their way to Pendleton to attend the funeral of Lewis Underwood, a cousin of Mrs. Ross. The deceased died in Florida and his remains were brought back here for burial. He was born at Sheridan and spent most of his younger days there but has been living in the South for the past eight or ten years. [1]
DIED IN FLORIDA
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Underwood, of Pendleton, received a telegram, Friday, from their daughter, Mrs. I. G. Davis, stating that their son, Lewis Underwood, aged thirty-five, died at his home in Monticello, Florida, Friday morning. The body arrived in Pendleton Sunday and the burial occurred in the Pendleton cemetery. The deceased was born in Sheridan and will be remembered by many persons of the northwestern part of Hamilton County. He is survived by the widow, two sons, Donald and William, his parents and sister, Mrs. I. G. Davis, of Pendleton, who has been Florida during the winter. [2]
