I am not certain this is the correct John Hill

Military

John enlisted as a Private in Company A (Lenoir Braves), 3rd North Carolina Artillery (40th State Troops) in Brunswick County on April 15, 1864, for the war. He was present or accounted for through December 1864. He was admitted to hospital at Wilmington on January 23, 1865 with "chronic rheumatism" and returned to duty on February 8, 1865. [1]
