Last Will and Testament of Elizabeth WorthenKnow all men by these presents, that I, Elizabeth Worthen, of Hartford City, Blackford County, State of Indiana, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament:
Item 1. I give and devise to my son, William A. Worthen, and his wife Mattie Worthen, to be held by them as tenants in the entirety during the lives of them both and to be held by the survivor of them during his or her life, and then at his or her death to go in fee simple to the children of the said William A. Worthen and Mattie Worthen, the following real estate to-wit: a part of lot number Thirteen (13) in Bailey's Addition to the town (now city) of Hartford City, Blackford County, Indiana, described as follows to wit: beginning on the south line of said lot at a point four (4) feet west of the southeast corner thereof and running thence north parallel with the east line of said lot one hundred twenty (120) feet, thence west thirty (30) feet, thence south one hundred twenty (110) feet, thence east thirty (30 feet, to the place of beginning. This devise is made on the condition that said William A. Worthen shall pay out in full the mortgage on said Lot number thirteen (13) now held by a Building and Loan Association.
Item 2: My son Marvel N. Worthen, has already received the full amount to which he is entitled out of my estate and for that reason nothing is given to him by this last will.
Item 3: All the residue of my personal property and real estate, I give to my husband James Perry Worthen, to be held by him for and during his natural life, subject only to the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses.
Item 4. Upon the death of my said husband if he shall survive me an dif not then upon my death and subject to the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, as aforesaid, all my property of every kind, both real and personal shall go to and be vested in my three children, to wit: Mary J. White, John H. Worthen, and Emma A. Reed, to be shared equally between them after the following payments have been made vis. to said Mary J. White, Two Hundred Fifty (250.00) dollars, to Emma A. Reed Two Hundred (200.00) dollars, and to my three grandsons, Charles, Jacob, and Arthur Worthen, children of my son Joseph Worthen, deceased, there shall be paid ten ($10.00) Dollars, each.
The distribution is to be made in the foregoing manner for the reason that my son John H. has already received from me Two Hundred ($200.00) dollars, and the payment of two hundred fifty ($250.00) dollars, to my daughter Mary J. White is provided because she assisted myself and my husband to the amount of Fifty ($50.00) many years ago. I revoke all former wills by me at any time made.
In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of June 1902.
