Notes
Birth
The 1900 U.S. Census states his birth was in Oct 1851. The 1910 U.S. Census lists his age as 58 on 15 April 1910, indicating he was born between Apr 1851 and April 1852. The 30 Jul 1890 manifest of the ship he immigration on lists his age as 39, indicating his birthday would have been before Jul 1851. None of these sources are highly reliable for determining the exact date of birth, but we can reasonably assume he was born in 1851.Occupation
The ship's manifest he arrived on lists his occupation as a shoemaker, so he was probably a shoemaker in Italy as well.Immigration
He was traveling with Angela Guardino (aged 28) and Guiseppe Bongiovi (age 1). The "Iniziativa" was a 2,032 gross ton ship, built by Stephen & Sons, Glasgow, Scotland for Raggio of Italy. She started her last voyage on the Palermo - New York route on 20 July 1894 and made a total of 28 round voyages on this route.Residence
