Mrs. Attalena A. Mower, 77, died April 10 at a Waterville hospital following a long illness. She was born in Dexter Aug. 31, 1894 the daughter of Albert and Blanche (Nutter) Atkins. She was the wife of the late Clyde F. Mower who died in May of last year. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1913 and attended Colby College. She was employed for many years in the Dexter branch of the Merrill Trust Co. She attended the First Universalist Church and was a member of the Ladies' Aid of that church. She was a member of the Dexter Woman's Literary Club of which she was a past president. She was a life member and past matron of Wassookeag Chapter O.E.S. and past Adah of the grand chapter of Maine O.E.S., a member and past regent of Rebecca Weston Chapter DAR, a 50-year member of Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge and a member of the Sunshine Club. She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Ben Jones of E. Hampton, Conn., a nephew Carroll Mower of Plaistow, N.H., and several cousins. Eastern Star services were held Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services are being held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the Crosby-Neal Funeral Home in Dexter with the Rev. Robert W. Sterling of the First Universalist Church officiating. Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant in Dexter.Endnotes
