Obituary
UXBRIDGE, Mass., and GRAFTON, Mass. - Leslie J. (Thibeau) Welch, 71, passed away Jan. 3, 2009, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mrs. Welch was born Oct. 12, 1937, in Bangor and raised there, the daughter of Walter and Marie (King) Thibeau. She lived 14 years in Grafton, Mass., and the past eight years in Uxbridge, Mass. Mrs. Welch was a graduate of John Bapst High School, Bangor. She was a former parishioner of St. Mary's Church, North Grafton, Mass., and The Uxbridge Historical Society. She was a talented artist, an excellent seamstress, enjoyed cooking and volunteering at The Uxbridge Senior Center. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Raymond X. Welch; three sons, Raymond X. Jr. and his wife, Kathleen Gaines, of San Rafael, Calif., Timothy E. and his wife, Elizabeth Molloy, of Silver Spring Md., and Richard P. and his wife, Rebecca, of Upton, Mass.; two brothers, Walter Thibeau of Texas and Peter Thibeau of Connecticut; one sister, Barbara Brooks of Alabama; six grandchildren, Samantha, Brendan, Patrick, Katherine, Sydney and Timothy, all carrying the Welch name; many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton, Mass. She will then be laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery, North Grafton, Mass. All attending Saturday are respectfully asked to go directly to the church. The family will receive people at a visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Roney Funeral Home North Chapel, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton, Mass. Memorial donations, in lieu of sending flowers, may be made in her name to the Jeni Foundation.Endnotes
