The alarm of fire from box 36 at 7.40 o'clock Friday morning was for a slight blaze in the home of John Logan, 63 Patten street. A child, playing with matches, had set fire to lace curtains and a couch but the damage was small.Census

Under the provisions of the new law, Dr. Harry D. McNeil, one of the medical examiners for Penobscot county, held an investigation on Friday into the death of John Logan, who passed away at an early hour Friday morning. Logan, it appeared from circumstances surrounding the finding of his body, had gone to the cellar of his home in Patten street and had died suddenly there, no on being about at the time. Several police officers testified to the conditions when they arrived at the scene. The cause of his death is not definitely known. Coroner Finnigan states that contrary to reports circulated of death by suicide, he found nothing about the case or premises to indicate such an act. Logan was an employe of T. F. Cassidy & Son in Front street and formerly acted as crossing tender for the Maine Central railroad. He leaves a widow, one son, John T. Logan, and three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Boulier, and Misses Mary and Madeline Logan, as well as three sisters, Mrs. Mary Shea, Mrs. Letitia Seavey and Mrs. Cassie Wakely, of Bangor.Funeral Notice

The funeral of John H. Logan was held in St. Mary's church Sunday at 2:30 p. m. Rev. Jeremiah McCarthy P. R. officiated. The bearers were, James Nichols, John Fraser, William Clark, John McCarthy, William Sweeney and Fred Lowell. The interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.Endnotes
