Obituary
Francis V. McDonald, 60, of 18 Nelson St., died unexpectedly Jan. 2, 1986, at his residence. He was born in Bangor, April 12, 1922, the son of Chester J. and Hazel M. (Smith) McDonald. He was a graduate of John Bapst High School, class of 1940 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater Operations with the 152nd Field Artillery. At the time of his death, he was the purchaser of industrial supplies at Acme-Dunham Co. He was an avid sports enthusiast, a former semi-pro baseball player, a well-known bowler and horse-shoe player. Surviving besides his wife, Jane (Thebeau) McDonald of Bangor are three step-daughters, Deborah A. Hichborn of Carmel, Patricia A. Gilbert and Nancy A. Gilbert, both of Bangor; two sons, Michael J. Gilbert of Hampden and Gary R. Gilbert with the U.S. Army, Germany; one brother, Robert V. McDonald of Bangor; one nephew; two nieces; three stepgrandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
