Obituary
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Robert Austin Tate Sr., 72, died May 13 in Bakersfield, Calif. after a long illness. He was born Aug. 1, 1903 in East Corinth, Maine, the son of Martin and Lillian (Preble) Tate. He graduated from the University of Maine in 1926 and taught school in Houlton, Maine, after which he became vice-president - general manager of the Aroostook Test Fertilizer Co. He was a third degree Mason and Shriner, and was active in Presque Isle, Maine, organizations. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Scott) Tate of Bakersfield; a son, Robert Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara E. Sessions, both of Sacramento; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle McStay of Lynn, Mass.; two brothers, Harvard and Oscar, both of East Corinth, Maine. Funeral services were held May 17 in California.Endnotes
