Obituary
Izetta Elizabeth (Lidstone) Carpenter, 84, died June 12, 1986, at an Orono health-care center. She was born in East Corinth, July 19, 1901, the daughter of Rev. Isaac Harold and Agnes (Whittier) Lidstone. She was a resident of Orono for many years, a graduate of Patten Academy, Class of 1918, and received a bachelor of arts degree at Bates College, Class of 1922. Mrs. Carpenter taught at Patten Academy from 1922-1924. She was a member of Orono United Methodist Church and was active in many Methodist church organizations. She was a member of AAUW and a trustee of the Philips-Strickland House, Bangor. She was married June 12, 1924, to Roland J. Carpenter, superintendent of schools in Presque Isle, 1933-1943, and at Bangor, 1943-1956. He was later on the faculty at UMO in the Department of Education. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Charles L. Carpenter of Augusta and Robert K. Carpenter of Charlotte, Vt.; one daughter, Mrs. Jean C. Keller of Santa Ana, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Randy Keller of Boulder, Colo., Patricia Lambaren of Anaheim, Calif., James Carpenter of Orlando, Fla., Susan Vigne of Portland, Kathy Rammer of Rochester, N.Y., Charles D. Carpenter of Pittsfield, Mass., Lisa Sheppard of Dyersburg, Tenn., Joan C. Troccoli of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Lidstone of Winthrop; one sister, Anne Pinkham of Unity. Funeral services will held 2 p.m. Monday at Orono United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronald Walden, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono.
