Occupation
Jacob was a lumberman with his brother on a tract by the river, which they lost through extended credit. It may be remembered that at this time the British government suddenly withdrew its preferential tariff on lumber in favor of its colonies. Sandinavian lumber then poured in, bankrupting many of the strongest firms of New Brunswick.Endnotes
