Fred L. Mower is a proprietor of a machine shop that he has operated for 50 years. He was b to Isaac F. and Rebecca Robinson Mower in Dexter Apr. 14, 1865, and m Mary Ellen Plummer, who was the d of George W. and Adriannah Hill Plummer and b in Dover-Foxcroft Mar. 7, 1868. One d, Mildred R., b Dec. 24, 1888, first m Herbert W. Merrill of Skowhegan. He died and she m Winfield Pickett [sic] of Portland. No children by either marriage.Miscellaneous
Fred Mower, 90 Years Old Today, Was Born on Night Lincoln Was Assassinated. Fred L. Mower, who plans today to spend his 90th birthday in his workshop on Pleasant Street, is shown here with an April 20, 1865, copy of The Piscataquis Observer, which gives an account of the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln at a theater in Washington, D.C. Mower, who has spent a great deal of his life in Dover-Foxcroft and who no is engaged in repairing most any mechanical apparatus contrived by human beings was born in Dexter April 14, the evening Lincoln was shot. His parents named him Lincoln after the Great Emanicpator. Mrs. Mower recently celebrated her 87th birthday, and the couple have been married for 67 years. (Observer Photo)Endnotes
