Obituary
Alfred W. Tilley, 69, of 12 Fairfax St., died unexpectedly July 18, 1983, at a local hospital. He was born in Brewer June 17, 1914, the son of Joel and Rose (Stinson) Tilley. He was employed for 33 years by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, retiring in 1975 and was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving besides his wife, Agnes R. Tilley, are one son, Thomas A. Tilley, two granddaughters, Mrs. Andrew (Susan) Buchanan and Anne Tilley, all of Bangor; two brothers, Arthur Tilley of Bangor; and Joel Tilley of Orrington; four sisters, Eva Gormley of Rochester, N.Y.; Christine Cummings, Ernestine McCluskey, and Barbara White, all of Bangor; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
