Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mortell of 252 Grove street announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Katherine Mortell, to John Bartlett, son of Mrs. Sadie Bartlett of 51 Maple street. The wedding will be numbered among the early summer bridals. Miss Mortell was graduated from Bangor High school and is employed at the Liggett Drug company in this city. Mr. Bartlett was graduated from Bangor High school and the University of Maine, where he was a member of Delta Tau fraternity. He is now employed at the Bangor post office.Marriage Notice (family)
Miss Katherine Agnes Mortell, daughter of Mrs. Mary Mortell of 252 Grove street and the late Thomas J. Mortell, and John A. Bartlett, son of Mrs. Sadie M. Bartlett of 51 Maple street and the late O. M. Bartlett, were married yesterday morning at 7:45 o'clock in St. John's Catholic church. The Rev. J. W. McFarlane officiated. Miss Eleanor Donovan was maid of honor and John H. Mortell, brother of the bride, was best man. The bride was attractive in a gown of white satin cut princess style en train. Her long tulle veil was fashioned with a halo cap of seed pearls, and she carried a sheaf of Easter lilies. Miss Donovan was lovely in a Wallis blue moire. She wore a picture hat of blue and pink and carried an arm bouquet of Talisman roses. Mrs. Mortell, mother of the bride, was gowned in black satin with hat and accessories to match and wore a shoulder corsage of gardenias. Mrs. Bartlett wore Wallis blue chiffon with matching hat and accessories, and her corsage was of Talisman roses. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the Penobscot Exchange hotel for the bridal party and close relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett left Monday noon for a wedding trp [sic] to New York and Washington. The bride's going-away ensemble was a rose-colored suit with which she wore white accessories. The couple are making their wedding trip in an automobile which was given them for a wedding gift. They will be at home at 252 Grove street after June 20. The bride was graduated from Bangor High school and since completing her education has been employed in the Liggett Drug store in this city. Mr. Bartlett was graduated from Bangor High school and the University of Maine, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He is employed at the Bangor Post office.Obituary
CONWAY, S.C. - Katherine Ann Mortell Bartlett, 82, wife of the late John O. Bartlett, died Oct. 29, 1993 at Pinedale Residential Center after an illness. Born in Bangor, Mrs. Bartlett was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Sullivan Mortell. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mary-Kay Wilson of Conway; two grandchildren, Pamela Wilson and Mary Ellen Wilson, both of Conway; four brothers. Rosary will be said 12 noon Wednesday, Nov. 3, with a Mass at 12:15 p..m. from St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Chet Moczydlowski officiating.
