Occupation
Benjamin started in the employment of Isaiah Thomas, Esq., the proprietor and printer of Massachusetts Spy, the first newspaper printed in the County of Worcester, Massachusetts. After the Revolutionary War, Benjamin established the Columbian Centinel, being its editor and proprietor, a politically toned newspaper popular from the Thomas Jefferson's presidency in 1801 to Andrew Jackson's in 1829.Endnotes
