Obituary
GLENBURN - Lois-Jean (Bemis) Leighton Moore, 78, died peacefully Nov. 1, 2007. She was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Levant, the daughter of Rosco and Chrystal Bemis. Lois-Jean grew up on a farm in Levant. She married Elden Leighton and raised three children on a dairy farm on the Pushaw Road, Glenburn. Our community will always remember Lois-Jean as the morning manager at the Broadway McDonalds, where she would greet them daily with her beautiful smile and friendly manner. After the death of her first husband, she married George Moore Sr. They enjoyed many wonderful years of dining out, golf and travel. She is survived by George Moore Sr. of Bangor; her son, Cary Leighton and his wife, Dee, of Glenburn; three grandchildren, Jennifer Fournier and her husband, Dan, of Glenburn, Kyle Leighton of Madison, Wis., and Ashley Leighton of Boston; two great-grandchildren, Colby and Kendra Fournier of Glenburn. Lois-Jean was predeceased by her husband, Elden Leighton; and her two very precious children, Ronald and Jolene "Jody." Lois shared a very special bond with her daughter, especially in the latter years, as they supported each other during serious illnesses. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Edwina Cole and Elaura Frost; and her brother, Cleveland Bemis. Family and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, with the Rev. Rick Lambert, pastor of the Swanville Community Church, officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the services at the home of Cary and Dee, 918 Pushaw Road, Glenburn. Those who wish to remember Lois-Jean in a special way may make gifts in her memory to CancerCare of Maine, 417 State St., Suite 20, Bangor, ME 04401.Endnotes
