NEWPORT NEWS - Helen Paisley Wilson, 60, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1996. A native of Mouth of Wilson, Va., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1959, and was an active member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wilson was a 1957 graduate of Radford College and had taught at Phoebus High School since 1976, where she was currently serving as chairman of the Business Department.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene A. Wilson; mother, Elen B. Paisley of Christiansburg; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Hammond of Poquoson; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Teresa Wilson of Hampton; grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel Wilson of Hampton; brother, Lewis Paisley of Rocky Mount, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. in Ivy Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. David Bounds. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Together We Grow Again, campaign of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church, 2200 Coliseum Drive, Hampton 23666; or to American Heart Association, 753 Thimble Shoals Blvd., Suite 2B, Newport News 23606.
