Obituary of Earnest Blaine McCarter
Ernest B. McCarter, 57 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at Parkview Center in Beatrice, NE. Wednesday afternoon, October 25, 2006. He was born on August 6, 1949 in Rocks, Maryland. He attended Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen , MD. He and Kay Barnes were married on December 8, 1978.
He had been employed at the Brown Palace in Denver, Colorado, and had been employed in Beatrice, NE. at the Holiday Villa, as a janitor at the First Presbyterian Church, served as head custodian at the Beatrice High School, and currently was employed in the maintenance Department at MOSAIC.
He enjoyed working on clocks and watches, rebuilding cars, painting and sculpting, working on the house, and yard work. He loved his 5 dogs, Halloween, all of the clients at MOSAIC and playing Santa Claus for them.
Survivors include his wife Kay; son Nathaniel McCarter of Beatrice, NE.; 2 daughters Lisa Burkheimer of Denver, Colorado and Michele Carlson and husband Mike of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; mother Phyllis Doonan of Aberdeen, MD.; father Blaine McCarter of Havre De Grace, MD.; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sisters Nancy McCarter of Aberdeen, MD. and Roxane McCarter of Aberdeen, MD.; brothers Dennis McCarter of Havre De Grace, MD. and Eddie Doonan of Aberdeen, MD.
He was preceded in death by sister Eve McCarter, nephew Brian Placek; uncle Gene Brewer; and aunts Helen Thomas and Shirley Bratton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 30, 2006 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. with Naylor Lovell officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial of the ashes in the Evergreen Home Cemetery at a later date. The body will lie in state Sunday from 11-9:00 and Monday until the time of the service at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the American Heart Association with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice in charge.
