Marion, Virginia: Lanthin Greear Barton, age 89, died Monday, January 29, 2007 in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, Virginia. He was a contract painter in Baltimore, Maryland where he had his own home improvement business. He was a kind, loving, hard working person.
Mr. Barton is survived by his wife, Mozelle Tibbs Barton of Marion, Virginia; Three daughters, Margaret Gaskins and husband, Don of Goose Creek, South Carolina, Karen Knight and husband, Wayne of Essex, Maryland, and Cathy Harrell and Husband, Boyd of Bakersville, North Carolina; Two sons, Bob Barton of Johnson City, Tennessee and Denny Barton and wife, Colleen of Essex, Maryland; Two step-sons, Phillip Tibbs and wife, Diane and Tom Tibbs and wife, Ann all of Marion, Virginia. Two half-sisters, Norma Baer of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania and Joyce Rigdon of Airville, Pennsylvania; One brother, Carroll Barton of Richmond, Virginia; Two half-brothers, Roger Barton of Baltimore, Maryland, and Edwin Barton of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania; Nine grandchildren; Three step-grandchildren; Twelve great-grandchildren and Three step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Bobby Blevins and Rev. Mark Totton officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Thomas Cemetery Fund, c/o Sam Rosenbaum, 1157 Zion Hill Road, Marion, Virginia 24354.
