Eliphalet was taxed in 1765 in Northbury Parish on #45. He is listed in an incorporation of Plymouth in 1795. According to an old history, he was lieutenant of Northbury's 2nd Company in 1775, though Washington has no record of any military service. No listing of this family in the first U.S. Census (1790) has been discerned, though they seem to have been still in Connecticut until some years later when the rest of the family followed the older sons to New York. The marriages of the children probably occurred after leaving Connecticut, otherwise they would have been recorded as accurately as the births. But vital records not being made during their stay in New York, and church records, if made, have not been discovered.
