Daniel enlisted in Co. I, 51st Virginia on July 30, 1862 in Grayson County. He was described as being 5'10" and having a light complexion, light hair, and grey eyes.He was taken POW at Waynesboro on March 2, 1865 and sent to Fort Delaware. He was released on June 19, 1865.
