Mary DURRANT
( - 16 Jul 1631)
Will of Mary Durrant Ring
Mary must have been an educated woman for she could sign her name and owned several books including "A Plea for Infants" and Garland's "Of Virtuous Dames." She must have been adept at business too, because Governor William Bradford and Edward Winslow, were among those who owed her money at the time of her death. The inventory of her possessions shatters the myth of the dour pilgrim dressed in black and white.
