Moses Greer, formerly of this county but now of Pittsylvania Co., Virginia...deposeth that about 45 years ago, he was sent by his father to go to a large oak and stay there until Mr. Snowden, the surveyor came. That he and his brother Acquilla, carried the chain and that Mr. Snowden gave him and his brother ten shillings for doing so.
