Abigail Elderkin was born in Dedham MA she married John Betts and was a school teacher. She was brought before the court for calling Jesus a bastard, details are sketchy. Thomas Burnham defended her and saved her from being hung. She was remanded to her father and eventually divorced her husband who married Abigail Smith Adams.
