John Tilley

(December 15, 1571 - January 11, 1621)

Born in England, sailed on the Mayflower with his wife Joan and daughter Elizabeth. Edward, John's younger brother and wife also sailed. December 6 John and Edward were part of an exploring group sent out to evaluate living conditions and native people. John, Joan, Edward and wife all died within a few months of landing, burial at Cole's Hill -History records no nobler venture for faith and freedom. In weariness, painfulness, hunger and cold they laid the foundations wherein every man should worship in his own way- .
