James Hill(s) was born Arpil 26, 1726 to Samuel Hill(s) and Ann Brown. He married Eunice Walker on May 11, 1749. He was in the American Revolution from April 19, 1775 to 1779. He was a blacksmith and a farmer, proved in his will. He was a widow at 46 and most likely did not marry again.

James's birth is in Mayflower records, his 2nd great grandpa was John Howland, 2nd great grandma Elizabeth Tilley.

Marriage

James and Eunice Walker, both of Rehoboth, married by Rev. John Greenwood May 11, 1749. Int. April 13, 1749

Widow

Eunice died in 1772, James was 46 and did not marry again.

Military

James's first battle in the American Revolution was on April 19, 1775 when Paul Revere and others rode through the countryside, sounding the alarm that the British were coming.

Applied for a discharge, "impaired in health, poor circumstances, 53 years". the Council OKed.

Will

James's will includes an inventory and children's names, "my daughter Cynthia wife of Asa Angell …all my estate both real and personal not herein before disposed … after paying my just debts … equally divided between their heirs … son James Hill and daughter Sarah Hills … exec. of this".

James Hill's inventory summarized: Wearing apparel 1 black straight woolen coat, waistcoats and breeches, hat, mittens, caps and glove, Indoor moveables bedstead, flannel sheets, tablecloths, linen sheet, 1 sword and belt, butter mold, ladle, candle stand, bible, silver drinking cup, iron teaspoons, teapot, crockery, chairs tables, farming tools, blacksmith tools, livestock, real estate dwelling house , corn barn, 10 acres of land.

From Massachusetts Soldiers And Sailors of the Revolutionary War source: James, Rehoboth. Sergeant, Capt. John Lyon's or Capt. Jesse Perrin's co-, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775, etc. And June, 1776 ... being impaired in health, also on account of his age, 53 years, asking permission to resign his commission; ordered in Council March 3, 1779, that the resignation be accepted.
