Garbrand Roos

(October 1, 1820 - September 16, 1888)

Garbrand was born in 1820 in Hannover Germany and left for Harlingen, Netherlands in 1846 when he married Catharina. He was a bread baker. In 1862 the family left fro America and landed in New York on August 18, 1862, Garbrand was 41. From New York they went to Freeport, Illinois where the youngest son Johan was born. By 1880 the Roos family was in Pleasant Valley Grundy, Iowa, farming. Garbrand helped found the New Baptist Church in Aplington, Iowa and is buried at Pleasant View Cemetery in Aplington.
