William SMITH
(16 Mar 1765 - 16 Jul 1841)
He died in his home on Red Bluff in old Clinch (now Atkinson) county. His grave was among the very first in the white-sand cemetery on the banks of Arabia Bay. There has never been any marker on the grave, and his grave is the only one of the family there. He was said to have been one of the founders of the church in the days when it was an arm of old Union Church. After his death the church was constituted there. He was a Revolutionary War soldier.

He helped found the Beards Creek Baptist Church and Jones Creek Baptist Church.
