James Homer Alverson

James H. Alverson's obituary says he "came to St. Joseph in the year 1907 and engaged in the mercantile business and continued as one of our business men until a year ago last September, when he closed out his stock of goods and retired from active busines life.
"He was always a real booster for his town and community and took a keen delight in helping along any of the civic enterprises that might be a help in any way. He was kindly and of a geneal dispoisiton, always ready and willing to assist anyone who was in need of aid.
"In his young manhood he united with the Hope New Light Church, later transferring to the New Light church in Urbana. Since coming to St. Joseph, he has been a faithful attendant of the Methodist Episcopal church."
