Anderson Knox

In a series of deeds dating from 1841 to 1850, Richard D. Knox purchased the "right of legacy" from his 13 brothers and sisters to two tracts of land in Elkhart Co., Ind. These tracts had been purchased by John L. Knox before his death in 1835. Richard D. purchased his mother's interest in the land in 1838 and was, at the time of the deeds to his brothers and sisters, in possession of the land.

In this deed, Richard D. Knox purchased for $150 "the undivided three fourteenths" of two tracts of land in Elkhart Co., Ind. One of the fourteenths was held by Anderson Knox.

BoughtLand

The 80 acres in Section 34, T34 R6, was purchased for $1,700.

QuitClaimSale

The quit claim deed transferred his rights to 160 acres of land in Section 27, T34 R6, for $50.

Census

In the return, his occupation is given as farmer, his real estate is valued at $2000 and his personal estate at $500.
