From Unknown Newspaper:
"Obituary -- Samuel Shaw.
Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. H. Sperry, in Nashville, Tuesday June 14, 1898, Samuel M. Shaw, aged 65 years, two months and twenty days. Mr. Shaw was born in the state of New York, March 25, 1833. He came to Illinois when young and later to Minnesota. Feb. 21, 1858 he was married to Josephine L. Freeman and four sons and four daughters were born to them, seven of whom are still living to mourn his loss. His wife preceded him fifteen years ago to the last home from which there is no moving. Last July his second daughter, Vina, passed away. Three of the boys are in Dakota and one in California. The three girls were with him during his last sickness and did all that loving hands could do to make it pleasant and easy for him. At times the suffering was terrible, but he is at rest now. The funeral services were held at the house. Sermon was preached by Rev. M. D. Mack from 1 Cor., 13:12. Wednesday after, June 15, he was laid in the Nashville cemetery to await the resurrection morning."
