The General Index to the Civil War Pension Files, 1861 - 1934 indicates Adelpha started receiving a monthly widows pension on 11 March 1865 of $8.00 per month and that on 8 September 1865 each of Hiram's four children received $2.00 per month until they were 16 but payable to Adelpha.
She is in the 1880 Census (as A. D. Benway) at Bluff, Sumner County, Kansas. She is listed as Keeping House and is divorced. Living with her are children Cora, Grant, Mary and Madge Benway and also children Frank, Earnest, and Eva Stevens (indexed as Stephens).
She is in the 1900 Census (Dwelling 141, Family 146 as Adelina Clark) at Chemung, McHenry County, Illinois. She is listed as being born July 1837 in Indiana and married for sixteen years with no children.
