In the 1860 Census, she and her husband and famiily are living in Chemung, McHenry County. This census has her age at 25 (about 1835) and place of birth as New York.
The General Index to the Civil War Pension Files, 1861 - 1934 indicates Adelpha started receiving a monthly widows pension on 11 March 1865 of $8.00 per month and that on 8 September 1865 each of Hiram's four children received $2.00 per month until they were 16 but payable to Adelpha.
She is in the 1880 Census (as A. D. Benway) at Bluff, Sumner County, Kansas. She is listed as Keeping House and is divorced. Living with her are children Cora, Grant, Mary and Madge Benway and also children Frank, Earnest, and Eva Stevens (indexed as Stephens).
She is in the 1900 Census (Dwelling 141, Family 146 as Adelina Clark) at Chemung, McHenry County, Illinois. She is listed as being born July 1837 in Indiana and married for sixteen years with no children.

Marriage
On 18 February 1854 their marriage license #1276 was issued. On the 21 February 1854, they were married by Alain Brown, Justice of the Peace, Book A, Page 32 in McHenry County, Illinois. Marriage certification is also contained within Civil War pension papers.
