Mrs. Gertrude Jeffries Hailey, 86, of 906 Midland Drive, Wilmington, d i e d Saturday, November 11, 1995, at the Mariner Health Care Center. M r s . Hailey was born June 12, 1909, in Rockingham County, N.C., the daug h t er of the late Payton and Ollie Pearl Martin Jeffries. She received h e r e ducation in the Leaksville School System and later attended the Ple a s ant Hill Academy in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee. She was a member of the F i r st Baptist Church, where she devoted much of her time to the developm e n t of the Lake Forest Baptist and Murrayville Baptist Churches and oth e r c hurch organizations. She particularly encouraged the youth to atten d c h urch and be active in the youth programs. She was also a member of t h e S unset Park Home Demonstration Club and the secretary and treasurer o f t h e Sunset Garden Club. Mrs. Hailey was a devoted wife, mother an d h o memaker and was very supportive of her children when they were in s ch o ol and active in the Band clubs. Survivors include her husband, P e r cy Eugene Hailey of the home; two sons, Ronald E. Hailey of Clayton, N . C ., Michael R. Hailey of Raleigh; one daughter, Barbara H. Robbins of W i l mington; five grandchildren, Scott A. Robbins, David Keith Hailey, Ki m b erly H. Meier, Amanda L. Hailey and Jeff R. Hailey; and five great-gr a n dchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nove m b er 14, 1995, in the Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel b y t h e Reverend Jim Everette. The interment will be in Greenlawn Memoria l P a rk. The family will receive friends at the Coble Ward-Smith Fun er a l Service, Oleander Chapel, tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other t i m es will be at the residence.
