From the records of Sons of the American Revolution: "Captain Simon Ko p p enhaver served in the Revolutionary war, died 1802." Simon Koppenhoff e r o n June 20, 1768 bought of Tobias Bickel of Heidelberg township, 200 a c r es of Manor land and 100 acres of "John Penn's land." He owned other l a n d adjoining. Inabout 1783 he sold his 230 acre farm to his cousin Mi c h ael Smyser and settled in Newberry Township, York County. He is burie d i n L ewisberry, Newberry Twshp.
