NOTE:
John was a farmer in Spotsylvania County,Virginia and operated a country store until 1836. He then moved to Missouri. He lived in Pike County, Missouri where he owned a hotel, saloon, and a number of fast horses. After a few years he sold everything and bought a farm 3 miles south of Bowling Green, Missouri . He sold his farm in Missouri and returned to farming in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. He sold his farm in Spotsylvania County and bought a farm in Louisa County, Virginia, which he farmed for 4 years. He again returns to Spotsylvania County, Virginia and buys a farm and mill which he operates for 12 years.
