Lyle Strickland was born on 17 January 1914 in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, the son of John Leonard Strickland (1881-1962) and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Peiffer Strickland (1887-1975). He worked as a projectionist at a movie theater. He did not marry. He succumbed to cancer on 5 August 1937 in Lake City, MN at the age of 23. Funeral services for Lyle Strickland, 23, were held Sunday afternoon, August 8, 1937 from the Roschen funeral chapel with the Rev. John Hall officiating. Interment was in Lakewood Cemetery.
Lyle died in the Lake City hospital last Thursday, August 5th after a long illness which began with an infection which required amputation of a leg many months ago.Lyle was born in Zumbro Falls on January 14, 1914. For many years Lake City had been his home and for some years he was employed as operator of the projection machines at the Grand Theatre. He attended the Lake City schools.Pallbearers were Rivolla Bennett, Don Anderson, Dick Anderson, Bernard Simons, Harlem Holst, and Dick Mills.Surviving are his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Ed LaMont, Mrs. William Damman, Miss Lila Mae Strickland, and two brothers Leonard and Wilmer.
