Death
Elizabeth "Lizzie" Peiffer was born on 5 December 1887 in Mazeppa, Minnesota, the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth DeLos Peiffer. She was married to John Leonard Strickland (1881-1962) about 1903. They had three daughters and three sons. She was widowed in 1962. She died on 18 May 1975 in Lake City, MN at the age of 87. She was interred at Lakewood Cemetery.MRS. Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Strickland, 87, of Lake City, died at the Lake City hospital on Sunday, May 18, 1975 after a lengthy illness.
The former Elizabeth Peiffer was born December 5, 1887 in St. Paul to Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Peiffer. She was married to John Strickland in 1904 in Zumbro Falls. They lived in Zumbro Falls until 1925 when they moved to Lake City. Mr. Strickland died in 1962.
Survivors include one son, Mayor Wilmer (Tony) Strickland of Lake City; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Margaret) LaMont of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Mrs. William (Marian) Dahman and Mrs. Gerald (Lila) Pickett of Lake City; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, John Peiffer of Red Wing and one sister, Mrs. Emil Kuehl of Zumbrota. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, one daughter, and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20th at the Peterson-Sheehan Funeral Home. The Reverend Charles Burnham officiated with burial in Lakewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Shea, Elmer Brunkhorst, Harvey Cunningham, Elton Holden, Gerald Clifford, and Martin Olson.
The Peterson-Sheehan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
