John Strickland was born in Waddington, England 5 December 1848 and came to America with his parents when he was five years old. They first settled in Joliet, Illinois for a few years and in 1868 came to Minnesota where they have resided since.John Strickland was united in marriage with Anna May Stevens in 1874. John & Anna are living with his parents home in 1875 in Zumbro, Minnesota.
In 1880 John and Anna are living in Gillford, Minnesota. John was running a billiards room. In 1900 John was a merchant living in Zumbro Falls. In 1910 he is still in Zumbro Falls and is a merchant in a general store. His son Edward, and wife Myrtle are living with John & Anna May Strickland along with their daughter Olive.
John Strickland was a merchant in Zumbro Falls for 40 years before moving to Lake City about 1920.
