Birth
The only known fact is that Szajo z Chjam is the father of Abram Zelcman. I estimated Szajo's birth (using the 25 year rule) as 1745. He most likely did not have a last name since last names in Poland/Lithuania were not mandated until the early 1800's. Although his grandchildren originally had the family name Zelcman (pronounced Saltzman), it was changed to Smith by the mid 1800's. The reason is unknown. In his grandson Abram Smith's death record it is mentioned that Szajjo is from Rumszysk, i..e., Rutkiškės.Marriage
