The following obit appeared in the Aug 29, 2012, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:"Leland Rogers, died August 26, 2012, after a long illness two days shy of his 63rd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Elaine, son Curtis Rogers, daughters Marna Bender and the late Ronni Rogers (Mitchell) Katler, sister Marilyn (Alan) Bank. Seven grandsons, ranging in age starting with first born Ryan Rogers, Jaime Rogers, Alex Katler, Evan Bender, Quinton Katler, Lucas Katler and Max Rogers. He leaves behind his loving family, a national cohort of friends. Leland was born in 1926 in Green Bay, WI, where his grandfather was a co-founder of the first synagogue in Green Bay. As a boy, Leland proudly earned the level of Eagle Scout and he was active in high school sports. As a young man Leland joined the Navy/Marines one week after his high school graduation in 1944. His maritime career saw him as a surgical technician during the war. After the service, Leland earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1950 and joined a real estate firm in Milwaukee following graduation. A superb negotiator and true humanitarian, Leland had many friends from all walks of life and his charisma reached great proportions, whether in his business dealings or in his personal life. Leland belonged to the Shriners and Masons and he kept abreast of current events in Milwaukee and Wisconsin after he relocated to Florida in 1985. Leland was a Packer fan to the nth degree and legend has it that he never missed one game. Most of all, Leland was devoted to his family beginning with his wife of 63 years, Elaine, and with his children and their children. He will be missed greatly every day. Graveside services 12:00 noon Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Mount Zion Cemetery, 14510 W. North Ave., Brookfield. Memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice are appreciated."
