The following obit appeared in the Cleveland Jewish Press on February 22, 1980."Bernie GOODMAN, as district manager for R. Lavin & Sons of Chicago for 39 years, covered territories in Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania. Mr. Goodman, who retired in 1977, died on Feb. 17. He lived in Shaker Heights, and was a native of Cleveland. During World War I, Mr. Goodman was 17 years old when he tried to enlist in the U.S. Army but was unsuccessful. He was also unable to join the Canadian army because of his age. He finally served with the U.S. Army Ambulance Corp. In earlier years, Mr. Good-
man was a skating instructor at the Elysium ice rink. He was a member of
The Temple and the Non-Ferrous Metals Association. His hobbies included making miniature furniture and playing golf. When his wife, Anne (nee Burgin), died three years ago, the Goodmans had been married 52 years.
Surviving are a son, Tom; three grandchildren and three sisters. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, c/o University Hospital.
