Military
On 6 November 1833, Ezra Spalding of Hartland, Windsor County, Vermont then aged 80 years, and giving his birth date as December 1752,provided a statement related to his application for a pension. In 1776 while resident of Cornish, New Hampshire who served as one of the guards who were raised to guard the stores for the Continental forces being held at Cornish. Ezra was part of this guard unit from Spring 1776 until Fall 1777. In April 1777,one-half of the unit under Col. Solomon Chase went to Fort Ticonderoga and Ezra went with them. When St. Clair abandoned Ticonderoga, Ezra and his unit returned to Cornish. Ezra received a pension based on his service.[1][1] U.
