Probate
In his will written 12 October 1770 (proved 17 January 1771), Jonathan Kingsbury bequeaths to beloved wife Sarah the household items that she had when they married, £8,other household items, a saddle and bridle, and other provisions for her support including improvements on a portion of the real estate. Beloved daughter Abigail Abbot receives a piece of land with house and barn in Ashford that he holds by deed from William Knowlton. Beloved son Jonathan receives the remainder of the estate real and personal provided he pay the other legacies in the will. These legacies are £200 each to daughters Hannah Kingsbury, Elizabeth Kingsbury, Mary Kingsbury, and Esther Kingsbury when arriving at the age of twenty with provision for land valued at £220 each if Jonathan refuses to pay the legacies. Grandsons John Goold and Jonathan Goold each receives £10. Son Jonathan is sole executor. The total value of the estate was £1755.6.4 which included one farm in Ashford with 434 acres and a second farm of 41 acres.[1][1] Connecticut.Probate Court (Windham District), Probate records volume 8, pp 131-138
