Will
Connecticut. Probate Court (Plainfield District); Probate Place: Windham, Connecticut, Probate records volumes 1-4, volume 2, pp 75-76In his will written 22 November 1745 (proved 19 June 1749), Samuel Spalding bequeathed to beloved wife Susanna one-half of the moveable estate forever and one-third part of the free-hold estate while a widow, but she may forego the dower in which case son Jedediah needs to take care of her. Son John receives eight acres of meadow which is to go to the eldest male heir of John after John’s decease. With what John has already received,this is his full portion. All the remaining lands, buildings, and the other half of the moveable estate goes to Jedediah. Daughters Abigail Barret, Elizabeth Barret, and Mary Barret each receives £15 which makes the rest of their portions. Daughter Phebe Spalding receives £50 which is her full portion.
